Christopher Wilson: listen

Always

(Christopher Wilson)
Always
(C. Wilson)

it was almost ten now
what is almost
just one minute more
when the minutes pass
pass me right over
into a threshold...I implore

in the immediate of this morning
back talk of bitter bits to swallow
see the cracks in the perfect
I see cracks in the pavement I found
and they're dragging those young dreams down

so sooner or later doesn't apply at all
in the giving and taking knowing no timing at all

always the wonder and the why keeping us here
always and somedays
when the bluest sky is not that clear

sitting inside of ten now
packed it up in a hurry
wallowing a way to where
I just don't know
'cause we pressed on the same step
tracks and trails in a scurry
everywhere going nowhere
and nothing to show

but the immediate
and the middle of morning
I melt to the touch of a broken crutch
and I deal with the blow
for when nothing is certain
when nothing is sure
what matters so much is where your heart is
you touch this...it's your only home

so sooner or later doesn't apply at all
in the giving and taking
the time you're forsaking

always the wonder and the why keeping us here
always and somedays
when the bluest sky is not that clear
